Welcome to my page! I may not be aware that you visited, but I assure you that I am very grateful that you’re currently here.
My name is Kaitlin, I’m a fourth-year at the University of Cincinnati and am working towards a degree in nursing. Over the next year I plan to continue to accumulate knowledge from both inside my discipline and out. I believe that there is simply too much in this world to experience to limit yourself to one academic focus. I have an innate interest in science, but I also am intrigued by English, music, and sociology. As I progress through my curriculum I look forward to taking advantage of electives so that I can entertain these “hobbies” of mine. I want to take the time to expand my mind and learn to perceive information is different ways. I see life as a challenge that forces you to allocate the limited time you have to as many passions as possible. One of my favorite ways to spend my time and money is on international travel. Travel has always been a prominent aspect in my life. My parents have made it a point to expose me to different cultures and ways of life. Aside from being an excellent icebreaker, being born outside of the United States has given me a unique perspective of what it means to be an American. I love going to foreign countries to experience the culture, meet with locals, and see first-hand how different the way of life is from Midwest America. I have found it invaluable to be able to adapt to varying environments and surrounding. Traveling independently has taught me countless lessons that I could never learn in a classroom, and for that I consider myself extremely fortunate. Up to this point, I have been to thirteen different countries and intend to continuously add to the list. This past summer I visited Belgium and Amsterdam, both of which gave me much to learn from. In cities unlike any other, I was able to change my perspective on how we live our lives as Americans. As for the future, I hope –as most people do—to be happy with where I am. More importantly, I want to be engaged in what I’m doing. To me, being complacent with a monotonous routine is no way to live. I want to constantly be learning new things about myself and the world around me. I want to keep my enthusiasm. Ideally, my nursing career will allow me to do something impactful to those around the world so that I can interweave my passions into a plausible occupation. I want to find a way to do something creative with my skills: something atypical but still productive. I want to be able to provide a service in a way that has never been possible before. Thank you for taking the time to read this self-indulgent collection of paragraphs. |
